Working with A Wilderness Way offers the opportunity for you to truly make a difference to children’s lives.
At AWW our mission is to transform the lives of children who have suffered trauma, exploitation and marginalisation. We believe passionately in delivering outstanding care for every child we look after, and for us this means having the highest quality care teams working with our children.
Our care staff are not only our children’s role models and responsible adults; the relationships they form and the opportunities they create for our children have the ability to change the course of their lives. Our care teams are therefore dedicated, skilled and compassionate individuals who view their role as a calling and a privilege.
Our care for children has two main aims: to provide the stability and safety the children need to recover from their experiences through a therapeutic approach, and to build the life skills, self-esteem and self-confidence that will enable them to move on from us to successful futures. We believe that the key to achieving these outcomes is the quality of the relationships between both staff and children and across the organisation as a whole.
The journey that our care teams go on with the children during their time with us is often as positive and life-affirming for our staff as it is for our children. We work according to our Mission, Vision and Values and our Key Principles, cultivating a culture of respect, compassion, continuous learning and a shared humanity. We set high expectations for our children and for ourselves, and we work together with purpose, trust and humility to achieve our goals.
AWW was built on a spirit of adventure and challenge, and one of the cornerstones of our care is our Wilderness Experiences outdoor and adventurous activity programme. We believe passionately in using the outdoors to inspire and engage our children and to push the limits of what they believe to be possible. We share the message with our children that it’s what you do that counts, and we promote action, participation and exploration in all aspects of life at AWW. This powerful culture of enthusiasm and energy creates a vibrant and happy work environment and a wealth of opportunities for those who share a passion for adventure.
